Volunteer With Us

Becoming a Becoming Kin volunteer.

No special experience. No long-term commitment. Just people willing to show up for families when it matters.

What We Ask of You

Real help for real families.

Becoming Kin volunteers will take on practical, specific projects that match what families actually need. These aren't abstract "volunteer opportunities" — they're concrete tasks with clear scope: assembling a Welcome Home Kit, delivering a birthday cake, signing up for a meal train, restocking the Comfort Closet.

You choose what fits your schedule and capacity. Nothing is assigned without your agreement. Every project has instructions, context, and support from our team before you show up.

  • No experience with foster care required
  • Choose projects that fit your schedule
  • Most projects take 2–4 hours
  • You'll never be asked to give more than you have
  • Every project has clear instructions
  • Hogan reviews every match personally
What We Offer Volunteers

We make it easy to show up.

Coordination

We handle the logistics. You just show up. We'll coordinate with the family, prepare what you need, and be reachable if anything comes up.

Volunteer FAQ

Common questions.

Do I need experience with foster care to volunteer?
No. Most of what we do doesn't require specialized knowledge — it requires time, kindness, and follow-through. We'll provide any context you need before each project so you feel prepared and confident.
How much time do I need to give?
Most projects take 2–4 hours. There's no minimum annual commitment. You can volunteer once or every month — it's entirely up to you. We'll never pressure you to do more than you have capacity for.
Are there age requirements?
Volunteers should be 18 or older to participate independently. Older teens (16–17) may be able to participate with a parent or guardian present on certain projects. If you're interested in involving a teen, let us know in the sign-up form.
How are projects matched to volunteers?
We'll share available projects based on your interests and location. You choose what to take on. Nothing is assigned without your agreement. Every match is reviewed personally before a project is activated.
What if I need to cancel a project I signed up for?
We understand life happens. Let us know as early as possible so we can find coverage. We'll never guilt you about it — and we'll always appreciate that you reached out promptly so another volunteer can step in.
Will I meet the families I'm helping?
It depends on the project. Some projects involve direct family contact; others are more behind-the-scenes (assembling kits, shopping for supplies). We'll always be clear about what's involved before you commit — no surprises.
Can I volunteer as a group (company, church, friend group)?
Yes — group volunteer days are something we'll be actively planning. Sign up as an individual for now and let us know in the form that you're interested in group volunteering. We'll follow up when group opportunities are ready.
When does volunteering start?
We're launching in Summer 2026. Sign up now and you'll be among the first contacted when projects are ready. Founding volunteers will receive a special recognition and be part of shaping how Becoming Kin operates from day one.

Ready to be a founding volunteer?

Sign up now and we'll reach out as we launch. No commitment required.
